the pool is live

· the moin team

Moin! A small but important update for the moin ecosystem: the dao's MOIN/USDC liquidity pool is now live on Meteora. Part of the treasury is now actively providing liquidity for the market, instead of simply sitting idle.

what a liquidity pool is

A liquidity pool is a pot that holds two tokens side by side, here MOIN and USDC, a dollar-pegged stablecoin. When someone wants to swap one for the other, they trade with the pot instead of waiting for another person, and they pay a small fee for it. Whoever put the tokens in the pot earns those fees. This pot belongs to the dao.

what it does

  • It gives MOIN another market. People can now trade MOIN against USDC, not only against SOL.
  • It makes MOIN's price easier to read. A stablecoin pair shows what MOIN is worth without SOL's own swings mixed in.
  • It lets the dao take part in MOIN's trading. Every swap through the pool pays a fee, and those fees go to the dao's position in the pool, not to anyone's wallet. Only a dao vote can collect them into the treasury.

The basic loop is simple: MOIN trades, the pool makes those trades possible, the trades pay fees, and the dao earns them. No complicated story and no magic money machine. Just community-owned liquidity doing what liquidity is supposed to do.

how it happened

  • The vote: proposal 1 passed with 7.88 SOL of votes for it and none against. Voting closed on Wednesday, October 14, at 21:48 UTC.
  • The steps: the keeper carried out the proposal's 10 steps on Solana, in order. The USDC buy waited most of a day, because SOL had dipped just under the price limit the proposal set. The keeper kept trying, the buy went through at 15:05 UTC on October 15, and ten minutes later the pool was live.
  • The pool today: the dao's position holds about 1.44 million MOIN and 203 USDC. The price sits inside its range, so it earns on every trade, and it has already collected about 2.9 USDC of fees.
  • The reserve: the treasury kept its reserve in SOL, as the proposal promised.

We learned something too: proposal 1's price limits were tighter than crypto's normal swings, which is why its USDC buy had to wait. From now on, proposals use wider limits.

what's next

This is part of a bigger direction for the dao: owning more of what's around MOIN, step by step, instead of leaving all of it to others. The treasury, the pool, moin boost, rewards, community tools: small pieces, but they start to connect.

  • Friday, October 16, 18:00 UTC: proposal 2, the moin boost plan. Boosters would share 30% of what the dao earns, this pool's fees included, paid in USDC every week. The boost page has the idea, and the full post comes with the vote.
  • The spare MOIN: about 409,000 MOIN the pool didn't need. A small proposal after Friday would put it in a second position above today's price, up to about 10 times higher, so if MOIN runs, it sells bit by bit and earns fees on the way up.
  • The moin pfp drop: its proposal comes around October 21, with the drop from November 2. The pfp drop post says how to get yours.

We'll keep an eye on the pool: its depth, the trading through it, the fees it earns, and how it behaves as volume changes.

see it yourself

To everyone who redirected a drop, voted, or told a friend: you built this. Meme + coin = moin. Now the coin has liquidity too.

Nothing here is financial advice. Crypto is risky, memecoins especially: never put in more than you can afford to lose.
